Annual Refresher Course for First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders – The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) strongly recommends that qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders undertake an annual refresher course to keep their skills up-to-date and refreshed.
1 | Course Overview
This half-day annual refresher course is designed to help qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders maintain and refresh their skills in line with HSE recommendations. It ensures learners remain confident, competent and up to date with current first aid practices.
2 | Who This Course Is For
This course is suitable for individuals who already hold a valid First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualification and require an annual refresher.
3 | What You'll Learn
Learners will refresh essential first aid knowledge, including current legislation, responsibilities, accident reporting, equipment requirements and assessing first aid needs.
4 | Course Content
A range of subjects are covered, including:
• Primary Assessment
• Top-to-toe survey
• Recovery Position
• Resuscitation
• Chain of Survival
• Wounds and bleeding
• Bandaging
• Hygiene
5 | How the Course Is Delivered
This is a three-hour, face-to-face refresher course delivered by an experienced instructor. Learners must be at least 14 years of age.
6 | Assessment & Certification
There is no formal assessment. Learners are continuously assessed throughout the course and will receive a CPD certificate of achievement.
